Wow! It's been awhile! A lot has happened in my life, I'll try to keep it short and sweet!
The end of week 4 had 'Grandma' in town! (My partner's mom) Friday night was dinner with my partners aunt and mom. Saturday was the Hungarian Tea and Bazaar Lunch. Both of my moms came with me, it was the first time they had been at an event together. It went very well! On Saturday night was the Taboo Sex Show. My best friend joined us while Grandma and Aunt babysat. It was nice to be out for a couple of hours with the girls! Sunday we went to the new mall and Monday was another mall. Although I didn't go to the gym, all the walking counted for something!
Week 5 was a major lack of the gym and lots of late nights. (Note: Fitmom was canceled as the instructor was sick.) There was a District Girl Guide Camp on the weekend, and that meant lots of prep, packing and organizing - hence the late nights, as I get most of my 'stuff' done while the baby sleeps. In addition to not going to the gym, and the lack of sleep, I wasn't eating.... much of anything.
So far week 6 isn't any better. Our water cooler ran out of water right before camp. Which was ok, because we weren't home all weekend. However, on Sunday night 2 stores were out of the type of water I enjoy. So I went without my usual amounts of water for 2 more days, as I didn't drink enough at camp either. :( Monday morning the baby and I drove his dad to the airport. He has a new job that takes him 2 hours north of Fort Mac. It was nice to see him play with the baby, and for us to be amicable enough to enjoy some 'family' time. I hadn't made it to the gym all week and to top it off, the baby and I slept till 11:15 on Tuesday, so another Fitmom was missed.
It seems that I have 'fallen off the wagon' and my 'Body for Life' has turned into 'Starve and Stress.' I know already, by what I have planned for Friday and Saturday, that I might not make it to the gym and will probably not be eating healthy either. Although, since getting the H1N1 shot on Wednesday, my arm has been quite sore and I am very sleepy. (Perhaps making up for the lack of sleep from this and last week!) I am very proud, however, of not letting my internal stress overflow and have kept my emotions and outward stress under control.
On Sunday, I would like to go to Hungarian Dance as I have missed the last 2 weeks. Plus, it is the halfway mark for my 12 week program already!
I vow that the second half will be more successful than the first.

Start of Week 4
Well here I am, week 4 of 12.
Monday was another quick trip to Banff, in which I did pack healthy snacks for, but not enough and no breakfast. :( However, most of my food was good for the day. We went to the gym and I did my lower weights. While we were there, a staff member needed a shoulder to lean on. It was a honour that we could be there and provide that. It's amazing that a baby's smile can lift the lowest spirits!
Tuesday saw another visit from our out of town friend! This time was much healthier as all the candy is gone... All the meals and snacks were healthy and we supported her in her diet. All the laundry got finished, but I did not attend Fitmom. The 10am start time is really tough to wake myself and the baby for, not to mention the 25 minute drive to get there. I really regret not going, and look forward to the last few classes.
Wednesday finally saw a joining of healthy eating and exercise! Yeah! We all went to the gym before a planning meeting for an upcoming Guide camp. I packed healthy snacks for the meeting, and allowed myself to have a few cookies, knowing that the rest of the day was full of good food. While the baby was with his dad, the day took a quick, serious downturn. I basically had a meltdown as my partner and I had different views on some subjects, and I gave up. I don't remember most of it, but she got pretty scared. I snapped out of it, and enjoyed a wonderfully calming, relaxing bath while she read part of a book aloud to me. It was just what I needed, and as I was finishing the bath, the doorbell rang and my son was home. Talk about perfect timing! The rest of the night was good.
Usually Thursdays is Birth and Babies day, but this week (and last week) nothing was really planned. Since I wanted to go for a walk, we went to the new mall just outside of the city. We hadn't been there yet and it was a nice walk as it's a big mall. It was heartwarming to see that she not only offered to carry the baby through most of our time at the mall, but their happy bond continues to grow. Our relationship, since the bath on Wednesday, had been much better and I feel that our little family will continue to grow stronger.

Third Week's End
Well Friday was a very trying day in some ways. Ethan was at his Dad's and I was home alone for part of it, which is usually very productive and a nice break. However, I accidentally split over 50 mls of pumped breast milk. I was very upset and was not in a good space at all. My mom was great in helping me feel better, but my productive time was out the window. Ethan was a dream the rest of the day, and my mom and dad came over that night and helped me out. Mom did dishes, while I cooked some healthy meals and dad took down all the halloween/thanksgiving decorations. When my partner came home, she didn't understand the whole split milk thing, and that started a whole other round of not so happy time. A very interesting day to say the least!
Saturday, I didn't eat well, but I did go to the gym! I did my upper weights. It was a friends birthday so we went bowling after going out for dinner. How nice it was to meet new people and enjoy a night out!
On Sunday, my mom came over again and we made lasagna! I ate healthy all day. Although I didn't go to Hungarian dance, my parents still took the baby. My partner and I ate fruit and veggies while watching a movie. It was awesome to spend quality time with her just relaxing.
So the end of my week wasn't as healthy as I would have liked it. Seems that I either work out or eat healthy, but not both in the same day. This will continue to be my challenge.

Week 3
Well, I can certainly say 2 things:
- this week had more setback than successes
- Halloween candy is not a good thing
Made a quick trip to Banff on Monday, packed healthy snacks for the car and didn't get any candy while in Banff! A friend stayed at my house Monday night, Tuesday and left Wednesday morning. During this time, the cheesecake is finally gone (!) along with most of the Halloween candy(?!).
I didn't go to the gym Monday, but ate ok. Tuesday I went to Fitmom, but ate crappy. Wednesday was just bad all around. Thursday, went for a walk, but didn't eat very good at all.
Here's hoping that Friday, Saturday and Sunday are MUCH better than the beginning of the week!

The End of Week 2
It's amazing how fast time goes by, I can't believe it's been over a week since I last updated my blog!
The District Halloween party went well. I ate healthy snacks and the girls had a blast! It was nice to see that we filled the girls plates with the fruit, veggies, and crackers and cheese first. After they ate that, we asked if anyone wanted the mini cupcakes and 'kitty litter' cake, which wasn't eaten as much since they were full on the healthy stuff!
Thursday my Birth and Babies group had a Costume get together. It was disappointing because the veggie tray I brought was one of the only healthy snacks available. Since we were there for 3 hours, I had little choice but to eat the other junk food... I can't live on veggies alone.... Hopefully our next get together will have more healthy choices! Also, we just chatted, which was good, but then I had to got to the gym and do my cardio to make up for the lack of group walk.
Friday was my free day. No working out and I could eat whatever I wanted. This was planed seeing as it was a Northam Ladies Night. (The ladies on my dad's side of the family get together every 4-6 weeks) It was a fun Dress Up night with tons of junk to eat! I wasn't worried, beacuse tomorrow I would be back on track.
I did it! Only 4 mini chocolate bars and 1 wagon wheel for the whole day! Happy Halloween!!! It was weird, I didn't have any kids come by the house for Trick or Treating. So no kids by 8pm... I went to the gym and did weights!
On Sunday I went to the Hungarian Church. The first Sunday of the month, the Scouts make Langos (fried bread) as a fundraiser. That coupled with left over chocolate made the day not good in the healthy food department. However, dinner was good and healthy, followed by Hungarian Dance. I didn't manage to stay for the whole 2 hours, but did stay for longer than last week. The really crappy thing is I got a huge blister on my left ankle! :(
Hopefully, the next week will continue to have more successes than setbacks!

The Start of Week 2
On Monday, I ate well and drank water considering there was a District Meeting for the Guide leaders, and people brought various snacks that were not healthy. I had planned ahead and brought my own healthy snacks - crisis averted! While I was at the gym doing my lower weights, I saw a friend and my old trainer. It was nice to see her 'back on the wagon' and we gave each other kudos for being there. I enjoy the various people that I have been running into at the gym. The mutual support and respect is wonderful to give and receive.
Tuesday saw Ethan & I back at Fitmom. (Wow, a week goes fast!) As usual, it was a challenging class, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. After class, a few of the moms and our babies went to Sunterra Market for lunch. It was nice to have fresh, real food to choose from their cafe, from farmers in the area. I kept it lean and powerful (chicken, rice and chocolate milk) to replenish my body from the workout.
Tomorrow sees another Guiding event, as we have a District Halloween Party. A packed supper and choosing healthy snacks will surely keep me away from the goodies - wish me luck!

Week 1
The Spark Enrollment went very well last Wednesday, and so did my eating at the party! I did not have any cake, only fruit and chocolate milk. I did make it to the gym too! It is nice that Ethan spends time with his Dad on Wednesdays, allowing me to go to the gym, do last minute errands for Guiding and attend the meetings.
Thursday, I went for an hour long walk in Fish Creek with Ethan and another mom and her son from my prenatal group. That night a friend came over and we celebrated her being pregnant with a healthy chicken and whole grain pasta dinner and shared a piece of cheesecake for desert.
I was back at the gym on Friday morning and again on Saturday morning to alternate my lower and upper weights each day. This helps the opposite muscle group recover and gives your body a change. On each day I saw ladies that had crossed my work path years ago. I ended up talking to them both and gave them encouragement to continue working out and achieving their goals. Both days I ate very well and drank lots of water.
Friday night I enjoyed my cousin and her son's company while watching a movie eating a healthy dinner and desert. My best friend and I got together on Saturday afternoon and went to a Market Collective in Kensington. It was neat to see local artisans selling their crafts.
Sunday night I went to Hungarian Folk Dance Practice, while my parents watched the baby. I did not stay for the whole 2 hours since it was my first time back in ~10 months. The cardio workout is amazing - I need to remember to take my asthma puffer before practice! I can't believe how much I missed the dancing, and the workout! Next week I will try to stay for the whole practice. I ate well that day with the exception of my roommate making chocolate chip cookies while I was at dance. Fresh from the oven was too hard to resist...
That was the end of my first week! (The weeks go from Monday - Sunday). I am happy that I am off to such a great start. Only 11 weeks left to go!

It has begun!
Asides from an early morning bit of brownie on Monday, I have been off to a good start! My binder is prepped and ready to go, as I finished it Monday night. Plus, I had enough restraint to avoid a late night 7/11 trip!
Today, Tuesday, I made it to Fitmom with Ethan. I find it a challenge to go only because it is in the morning.(I don't do mornings well since Ethan and I both typically wake up ~ 10am.) I really enjoy the workout and seeing the other mom's with their babies. Encouragement and a sense of community are wonderful motivators! I have been eating healthy snacks too, and realize that I still need to prep more healthy snacks to have on hand in the fridge.
I am looking forward to tomorrow. I am going to the gym, then my Sparks have enrollment. We will be serving fruit and milk, along with cake and juice. I know that if I pack a supper to eat before the girls get there, I can have the fruit as desert instead of the cake.

My First Post
The point of this blog is I hope that it will help me stay focused on my goals, because if people read about them, then I have to be accountable. I really appreciate your support and encouragement. Please follow along and become a better you too!
I will be starting a new round of Body for Life on Monday October 19. This is a 12 week journey, ending on January 10.
During each week, I will be doing weights on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. FitMom (for the first 9 weeks) or cardio on Tuesday, Birth and Babies Walks or cardio on Thursday and Hungarian Dance on Sunday. Saturdays will be my free day with no workouts and eating whatever I want. (The rest of the week will be healthy foods!)
As I am a new mom, I would like to loose my pregnancy weight. By the end of the 12 weeks, my son Ethan will be almost 9 months old. Before I was pregnant, I lost 30 lbs and was only 5 lbs away from my goal weight. Since I know what I am capable of, I know I can do it again! The major difference is that this time I'm breastfeeding, so I get REALLY hungry all the time. Finding healthy food you actually want to eat can be tough!
My 5 goals for the 12 weeks are:
- Loose 20 lbs (140lbs -> 120lbs) - this should be fun considering Halloween and Christmas are coming up!
- Gain muscle and improve my cardio
- Fit into my size 4 pre-pregnancy clothes
- Have my house totally unpacked and organized
- Become a better Me in all areas of my life
3 things I need to change to be successful and how to fix them:
- Not eating healthy -> - Have healthy food in the house prepped and ready to eat, plan meals ahead of time (take meat out of freezer)
- Not working out enough -> - Book Ethan's Kid's Club @ the Gym at the beginning of the week, make time for workouts (housework can wait), have workout binder prepped
- Not looking after myself -> - Use Ethan's naps to have a bath/nap/do my nails, use the time he's at his dad's for myself, not housework.
Well, now that you know what I would like to achieve, let's get started. (Please feel free to let me know how your personal goals are coming along too.) Good luck to you and good luck to me!
